Congratulations New Exec!

Last night we held the 2008-2009 school year executive member elections. We had by far the closest races for President, Vice President, and Lead Engineer than any other year. The dedication to take responsibility in the club and its future is absolutely incredible. Keep up the good work. In any case, here are the results to the elections. You may view the executive members at any time by visiting the executive member contact list. (click Read More for the rest of the story!)

The Miata Runs

We have successfully cranked and idled the Miata in the shop. We are now diligently working on tuning the engine so it runs strong and powers the team to a great finish at the competition coming up this week (Oct 2-4). We have also verified that our custom transmission control is functioning and changing gears as commanded.

Next up, we are planning on painting the car as "Buzz", the school mascot, on Monday.

Its almost time to crank the v8!

As all the needed components come together, the first crank of the V8 is getting closer and closer. The first attempt to crank the lexus engine will happen tonight. The oil pan has been welded, fuel lines run, cooling system installed, wiring harness completed. Now the true question is will it work the first time?

We shall find out soon enough.

The Miata has a driveline!

That's right, folks! Last night we completed the driveshaft and halfshafts. Everything bolts up perfectly and the wheels spin like they were meant to. We plan to have the car running very very soon in order to prepare the car cosmetically.

More good news!

Over the past weekend, WreckRacing had a cookout and workday. We had a TON of new members, existing members, and project leaders out at the shop making incredible progress on the Miata. From sanding fenders to wiring transmission controllers, there is very noticable progress on the car. We appreciate everyone who came out to the shop on Saturday to help us out. Let's keep up the hard work! only 22 days until the competition!

The competition nears

As the competition comes closer and closer, more and more work is being done on the car. Members new and old have been out at the shop constantly in a final push to get the Miata ready, prepped, and tuned for our journey in October.

There has been a public webcam set up in the shop pointing straight at the Miata. This webcam broadcasts a live feed of the SCC. If you want to watch us work, see if people are in the shop, or just want to take one last look at the car before you go to sleep, head over to this website: http://130.207.76.152/view/index.shtml. An Update!

Work has been coming along nicely on the Miata. So far Nathan has been busting his tail to get the cage finished. The cage should be pretty much welded into the car and ready to go. Ramitha has also finished mounting the engine and we are pretty close on centering the rear end so we can start tackling our driveshaft issues. Garrett has also been making visible progress on engine wiring and Zach has used his giant muscles to tackle our non-cooperative spring compressor. This means as the 2007-2008 school year comes to a close we are well on our way to creating a V8 monster Miata
